ROBERT RICHARDSON SUPPORT LETTER
As tenants of the 710 Corridor, you are aware of our effort to reinstate Mr. Robert Richardson, to his former position as the Caltrans Pasadena rental agent. As a group effort we are collecting signatures for a petition and letter. We also urge tenants to send individual letters as well. We have included a letter from a tenant as a sample. Please use the letter as only a guide line, as your letter needs to be in your own words. We suggest you address the letter to Jeff Morales, Director of the Department of Transportation and copy the following other Caltrans people. (Names, titles and addresses included.)

Mr. Jeff Morales, Director
Department of Transportation
1120 N Street #1100

Dear Mr. Morales:
It has recently come to my attention that District 7 Right Of Way Agent Robert Richardson has been removed as my area’s rental agent. I’m writing this letter to voice my support for Mr. Richardson, and to let you know of my displeasure with the unfair treatment I feel he is receiving.
Since the “Historic” rehabilitation project started in the mid 1990’s, District 7’s attitude towards the tenants living in the 710 corridor has become completely adversarial, lacking any compassion or even professional courtesy. Nearly every District 7 official I have had contact with has either lied to me, treated me with disrespect, or disregarded their own policies, making any interaction with the department difficult and suspect. This has led me (and many, if not most, other tenants) to distrust anything a Caltrans agent says. The one outstanding exception to this nightmare has been Mr. Robert Richardson.
Mr. Richardson consistently treats me with respect whenever we meet. He approaches his job with skill and understanding, and tries to address the tenant's needs and concerns in a positive manner, while at the same time adhering to current Caltrans policies.
Mr. Morales, wouldn’t you agree that the situation with the department and the tenants of the 710-freeway corridor is not the most favorable one possible? In light of this, Mr. Richardson's ability to effectively deal with tenants stands out even more clearly. You should know that you have a valuable and respected rental agent in Mr. Richardson, and that he deserves recognition for a job well done. In my opinion, he is a primary reason why more tenants have not filed law suits against Caltrans to date, and District 7 would run a lot smoother with Mr. Richardson in the position of Property Services Manager.
As a long time Caltrans tenant in Pasadena, I urge you to put a stop to this needless persecution of one of your best employees. Mr. Richardson should be allowed to continue his excellent work with the tenants in Pasadena on behalf of the department.
